Was surprised there wasn't an official Rodimus after I finished reading the IDW comic. This figure is solid alternative. My only complaint is that the face plate is very difficult to remove; I was afraid it would break so I stuck with the default one.

If you want a fun, easy transformation, go with MMC's Calidus. If you want a supernaturally kibble-free IDW Rodimus action figure, this is the one. I do think his shoulders could have been taller, and maybe the head a little bigger, but that's nitpicking. It is crazy that this thing transforms. Admittedly, MMC's car mode is better. Like, there was no way SXS could have pulled off the gigantic front tires. But to get a solidly-locking, decent-looking alt mode out of this toy at all is applause-worthy.

Two mods I recommend: Getting the wheels out of the legs is terrifyingly difficult. The arm they're on is pushing against the red hinge. Scrape that red part down a little with a hobby knife. It's thick enough you can shave off a few millimeters with no worries about compromising the hinge. Also, I think one of the toy's biggest mistakes was that the blue windshield is too see-through. I painted the underside of mine a nice cobalt blue, and it improves the look of the car mode tremendously. Use paint that doesn't rub off easily though, or do a top coat, so it doesn't leave a blue smear on the yellow chest.

The transformation of this figure seems impossible the first time you try it. Once I accomplished it though, and knew where everything was supposed to go, it was easy. To car mode, I recommend doing each leg first, separately. Then do all the torso stuff, leaving the arms straight out. Wiggle in one leg first, get that floppy chest section positioned underneath, then tab the other leg in place. Then fold up the arms and vroom. One last thing, when going from car to robot, I cannot describe how satisfying it is to get all the parts and slices of his torso lined up, then CLICK them all together. Oooh mama.
