This kit adds some nice options for faces and hands as well as some weapon options for vehicle modes.

I got this for the light up head that includes the visor, with swappable faces and an actual up and down swivel and the articulated hands. The filler pieces for the thighs too. Haven't used the shoulder pieces yet as I want to figure out a way to lock the friction joints of the arms to keep them from doing whatever they want, and when you attach Bonecrusher, the piece forces his arm outward so he doesn't ratchet down all the way, making it even harder to keep his friction swivel from flopping around. Still well worth it for the hands and head. Didn't use the cab for Mixmaster, as nothing short of a full remodel will fix him.

I had hopes for this one but unfortunately it fails in sone key areas.
The overall look and feel of the parts are good but in two things it fails utterly.
One is that after I attached the cab the Devastator foot isn't flat against the floor. The front of the cab can't be flipped the whole 90 degrees as some of the new added plastic bumps against the drum.
The second issue is that the arms and elbows will drop due to the increased weight. The new shoulder pieces are nice looking but the added rotation point is kind of pointless when the rest of the arm isn't attached together with the part that rotates. So you just end up with the tank-threads pointing forward 90 degrees but the arms and elbow still pointing straight down!!! Not good and a complete break er for me.
Wish I'd never bought it.

Just got the Japanese reissue for retail pricing and had to get an upgrade kit. The upgrades make Devastator an even bigger unit than before.

Cab Difficulty - Okay
Not too hard to put in, but takes a while to get it aligned. Even after squeezing the two sides in, the side panels are not completely flush with the center.

Shoulder/Forearm Difficulty - Easy
Very easy pegs that pop in and out. Shoulders are very tight if you want to remove them later.

Hand Difficulty - Okay
Easier to brace the hand and push the black wrist out than vice versa.

Head Difficulty - Hard
Need a screwdriver and LR41 batteries for the eyes to light up. Yellow panel for the neck is very unstable as you need both sides of the crane to be level.

Overall tons of upgrades that turns him into an even bigger beast.

Everything was great with this set, except the head. The piece just kinda flops around loosely. It looks great though!

An amazing addition to an already great product. DNA has done it again. Don't get me wrong CW Devastator was a great product to begin with. Just a few things that made it seem like Devastator was the bot who got kicked around the cybertronian playground. Puny arms, expressionless face, and a club left foot. This has all been corrected, by getting Devastator under the knife and to the gym he has bulked up to massive proportions. It will require you to adjust your shelf space.

My only gripe with this kit (very minor) is that it doesn't have any boom upgrades for Hook, and no bucket upgrade for Scavenger like other kits. Slightly annoying, but not worth docking a star over. The added bulk that the shoulders give it really adds the imposing stature that the original should have had. The hands are a brilliant design allowing the gun to slot into a tab for a solid hold. The two biggest actual issues are with the elbows, but that is only because you're still relying on the stock elbows for their friction hold, and Bonecrusher staying connected to the forearm extenders. He's rather loose, but there's not really a whole lot that can be done with it.
For me this set is a great balance of other sets.

I love what this kit did for my Devastator. I'd say the hands are the best part for how they can be splayed into various poses. The additions for the shoulders are also great for making Devy look beefier without putting the shoulders too high. The head with its Prowl option is much better than the default head, and the truck cab add-on for his left foot helps correct proportions and add stability. Overall, adding the kit to figure was easy, except for the removal of the stock hands, which required substantial force. I can't see myself having the CW Devastator without this kit, which I picked because it struck a great balance of qualities I liked in other kits.

We mainly bought this to get a Prowlastator/Prowlstator head and poseable hands. The rest of it was a bonus to us.

First off, we love the head. It is absolutely perfect. The LED eyes are a great plus. Only issue is that there is a small crack where it sits on the main body but its not too noticeable.

The hands are much nicer than the originals. Our only issue with them is that the wrists are a bit tight, making it difficult to pose them, sometimes resulting in the piece they're attached to popping out.

The rest of it is perfectly fine although the shoulder extensions may be a bit too much and we'll likely remove them some day.

Additionally, the head looks tiny compared to the rest of the body... Maybe removing the shoulder and arm extensions will help with that.

There are a lot of nice looking upgrade kits for CW Devastator, so it was hard looking at the PE and X2 kits and not grabbing one of them, especially since the DNA kit release date was so far out when I first heard about it, but of the three I thought it looked the best. I'm glad I waited. DNA's shoulder pieces give Devs a much more solid, heavy look than PE's, and I never liked how high X2's shoulders rode so high above the collar section. The forearm extensions look great and blend with the stock forearms perfectly, with a nice hydraulic underside that hides the connector pegs and makes the whole thing look more solid. The head looks just like the stock head, but with the ability to switch out the blank, stoic face with a gnarly snarl, flip the visor up for the two eye look, and even wear the Prowlestator mask. There are a couple issues; the weight of the forearms is a little out of tolerance with the elbows, so they can be tricky to pose, and I wish they'd found a way to make Scavenger and Bonecrusher hold together a bit better, but you can work around it and once you get the piece into a good pose it stays that way. Also Mixmaster's cab upgrade can be a little fiddly to get on and transform, but once it's on there it looks great. All in all I'm glad I took a chance on this company. For a first outing they put out a really nice looking product and I'm looking forward to seeing what they do in the future.

Man of man... DNA's upgrade kit is far the best of the best I've seen on the market and not to mention the cheapest... this kit not a let down at all... the colors match perfectly to Takara's Devastator and articulation is dead on.. I love the piston hydraulics on the back of the forearms and they blend so well with the rest of this figure.. the hands are tight and stiff as well as the wrist joints.. the shoulders are great they don't over mask the figure like X2Toys XS001kit... and don't let me get started on the upgrade cab for Mixmaster... this thing is awesome... and I love the fact that it actually has a bit of transformation to it... unlike Perfect Effect's and X2Toys which is exactly the same... ( just a regular shoe.) the head is great I love the light-up eyes and interchangeable faces.... Now if I could only get this head to swap out with the original assembly hmmmm......

I am in *love* with this upgrade kit.

Everything about it, from the beefed-up Mixmaster cab to the new head (with swappable faces and light up eyes!) looks fantastic. I really appreciate how details like the thigh fillers, new shoulders, and new forearms are a little understated. This allows them to enhance Devastator's look without being a distraction (like with the ridiculously oversized shoulders I've seen in other sets).

The shoulders lock in very nicely, the extendable pipes on the underside of the forearms cover up the gaps, the hands look great and are very posable, and the color matching for the greens and purples is almost perfect. It's even possible to replace the original head on Hook's swing-out panel - though it will require disassembling the official head, which is a little tricky.

Having to wait so long for the set to finally come out was a nuisance, but I'm incredibly happy that I waited. It was definitely worth it.
