Toy is very sturdy and transforms well. I had no quality control issues with mine although I haven't picked up a battery for him yet so I can't comment on the lights. I admit he's a bit expensive, I picked mine up on sale, but the clear plastic really looks great. He's dark enough that if you put him on a shelf with a dark background you barely notice he's clear, but if you backlight him you see right through him and he's actually rather pretty to look at. I'm really very happy with this toy, I might end up collecting more clear versions in the future.
